Remembering Bob Platt

Bob was a cherished member of the swimming community, and he left an indelible mark on everyone he met.  Bob dedicated his life to his love of the sport, the athletes he coached, and for the past 12 years, SAC.  He was more than a coach, he was a mentor and friend.  He was a guiding light to help his swimmers achieve not only the goals they set for themselves, but also the goals he knew they could attain.

Bob's career spanned over 35 years and his unwavering commitment to the athletes he coaches helped to assure their success in the water, as well as in life.  He was a tremendous coach, teacher, and friend.  His gregarious laugh and shouts to all of the swimmers to "put on your shoes" will be missed by everyone.

Our pool deck will never be the same.

"Words fall short in capturing the

impact and inspiration you have given

to each person who had the priviledge

of knowing you.  You've touched my life

with your joy, passion, and care that

extended far beyond the pool.  I know

you will forever be cheering above.

I love you Bobble."

"Bob was loved by everyone who met

him.  He not only made me the swimmer

I am but the person that I am.  The swimming

world will never be the same.  He believed in

me when nobody else did.  I am forever

grateful for everything he ever did for me.

I love you Bobble."

"Thank you for being the best coach anyone

could ask for.  I was so lucky to have you as

a mentor, trainer, and friend.  You've truly

shaped me into the swimmer that I am today.

Nobody will ever compare to you, and I feel so

blessed that I got to be one of your swimmers.

You were such a light on the pool deck and

I hope SAC can continue to make you proud!"
